World's Largest Fancy Vivid Pink Diamond

59.60 carats Largest Fancy Vivid Pink Diamond - The Steinmetz Pink. |
The pink diamond is the world's most rare and valuable diamond. The cause of color in pink diamonds is thought to be plastic deformation, brought about by microscopic imperfections at the atomic level. It is estimated that for every million carats of rough diamonds found, only 1 carat is intense pink!
The Steinmetz Pink Diamond was first unveiled in Monaco in May, 2003. It took a team of eight people working approximately 20 months to cut the diamond in its present shape. Fifty models were worked on before the cutting even began. The one in itself gem was recently valued at 25 million dollars.
