Elizabeth Taylor's remarkable Jewelry collection, wardrobe and art is all set to be auctioned by Christie's in New York.
Elizabeth Taylor is well known for her classy fashion sense all over the world. Liz Taylor had a passion for jewelry, having publicly said that "You can't cry on a diamond's shoulder, and diamonds won't keep you warm at night, but they're sure fun when the sun shines". She was a client of jewelry designer Shlomo Moussaieff and her jewelry was worth over $150 million at the time of her death. A total of 269 pieces from her jewellery collection will be auctioned while 400 fashion items spanning over 50 years of Taylor's life will be sold off.
The most exceptional jewelry pieces include the 33.19 carat Krupp Diamond set in a Platinum ring which she used to wear daily until her death and 16th-century La Peregrina. One of the largest and most symmetrically perfect pear-shaped pearls in the world, which Burton purchased for Taylor in 1969 as a Valentine's Day gift will be auctioned along with the ring. Krupp Diamond ring is expected to fetch somewhere between $2.5-$3 million and so is Le Peregrina.
About 500 pieces of Taylor's costume jewelry will be sold online at the same time. The other articles include - Versace Beaded Evening Jacket 'The Face',Red Silk Taffeta and Floral Applique Evening Ensemble Edgar, Paintings by Degas, Camille Pissaro and many more prized possessions.
The entire collection will be exhibited from Dec. 3-10 at Christie's New York galleries. We will bring the details of the individual pieces in the days to follow.
