Diamonds have been synonymous to luxury for almost a century now. However, Rubies, Emeralds & Sapphires are now taking over the luxury market. Fine Rubies of 3ct.+ sizes & emeralds & sapphires of 10cts.+ sizes have always been highly valued, now people realize why.
3cts.+ fine rubies from Burma are exceptionally rare. Whereas similarly sized diamonds (of fine quality), although found more easily, command very high prices.

Lately, there has been an increasing trend of fine quality precious gemstones, ladies are picking the colors over white diamonds. One apparent reason for this may be the proliferation of diamond jewelry in the market. The retail market (in India, at least) is flooded by commercial diamond jewelry & has almost become a regular commodity purchase in the upper middle class of India.

Whereas, it is impossible for fine Rubies, Emeralds & Sapphires to proliferate the market in such a manner because of their sheer scarcity! Realizing this, people are grabbing the fine stones while stocks last.
